What was dudley worst memory

I knew I had heard it spoken about before! I don't know why my mind went to those moments though! Explore Wikis Community Central. Register Don't have an account? When Dementors attacked, they often caused victims to relive their worst memories.

Even though Dudley was unable to acknowledge their presence, the creatures were able to manipulate his mind. The books and films failed to fully explain what Dudley went through during his encounter with the Dementors, but Rowling has since confirmed lingering mystery. As the Dementor hovered over Dudley, he finally viewed himself for who he truly was: a spoiled bully. Dudley realized how cruel he was, and how horribly he treated others, including his own cousin. Upon addressing his past behavior, the Dementor attack gave Dudley a chance to take a step back to reevaluate his life.

He began changing his attitude by finally accepting Harry as a respectable figure. Dudley mended his relationship with Harry before the Dursleys were escorted into hiding ahead of the final battle against Lord Voldemort. In a deleted scene, Dudley shook hands with his cousin before thanking him for saving his life. May I respectfully call bullshit on fanon's insistence that "Dudley had no bad moments".

No one goes through life unscathed, I'm sure he saw something. Maybe the dementors did make him see that he was a spoilt brat but not because there was nothing else. Just having Harry in the house would be perceived by Dudley as a series of "bad moments"--having to give up his second bedroom, having a "freak" living in the house, etc. He saw himself as he truly was. He saw himself as a spoiled mummy's boy, nowhere near as tough as he thought he was, and he realised he was a not a good young man, but a bully.

Hopefully someone finds an interview where she answers it! It's quite possible she intended to have it in the book just as she had intended for 'scar' to be the last word in the series , and it got cut for one reason or another. There's a circular link between the two questions: this one and scifi.

I did find this , but not sure how credible it is And here's the quote: "People usually ask me, what is it that Dudley saw during the Dementor attack? Improve this answer. Odd, now that you've posted it I feel like I've read that quote before.

I was also sure I had seen this question before as well, here on stackexchange, but couldn't find it — user The transcript of the question and answer session that this article refers to accio-quote.

This was an extremely painful, but ultimately salutory lesson, and began the transformation in him. Hannah Hannah 1. While this certainly seems plausible, the accepted answer says something different. Is there any evidence in the books or elsewhere that this is what he saw? Welcome to the site : Some of these suggestions seem more plausible than others to me, but it's not too important.
