Which halo should i start with
Exploring space with Master Chief is what many consider to be the epitome of first-person storylines. Because there are more than a dozen games and novels to look at, newcomers to the series might be a bit confused.
Where do you start? Can you start anywhere? Or do you need to play every game in a row? There are a total of 16 games in the Halo series. Of those games, eight are considered to be part of the main storyline. The other eight games are various spin-offs or adaptations that may or may not be part of the canon. For canon games, the numbered options are all considered to be part of the main storyline. Halo are all part of the official storyline.
While it may look like one, Halo 3: ODST is not considered a spinoff because it directs the story in a different direction. Then there are four official Halo spinoff games.
The Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike games are twin-stick shooters, so fun for a quick sit-down and play. There are 2 Halo spinoff games that might not be available to everyone. Recruit is a short VR experience in the universe, and Fireteam Raven is an arcade shooter. Being an officer provides Noble 6 with more human resources at his fingertips and the ability to give direction and lead. It is impossible to beat this level no matter how skilled the player is. Attempting to escape will result in death from the kill boundaries.
Lone Wolf is the first and only playable post-credits sequence ever in a Halo game. This is the only playable level in Halo: Reach that contains just one data pad. He gets involved in an insurrectionist takeover of the nearly completed UNSC Infinity and defends himself with a shotgun while wearing a suit I feel this extra information was important :P. Remember Me. Home Gaming. Should I play Halo: Reach first?

I wanted to show him the story in order and he felt the weight of the Pillar of Autumn and just how intense that was, and then we beat Halo CE and went into 2 and then stopped because apparently getting married takes up your time for a few weeks.
That said, I did explain some stuff to him like what Reach was, why it was so important to humanity and stuff like that, but still. I think you can start with Reach, but starting with CE is probably the best route in general.
You've explained exactly why you should NOT start with Reach. Even if you're a long time vet, starting with the game doesn't make any sense. Some games are flashbacks or prequels and that's fine.
There's no reason to play the games out of order. Always go with release order. It's like Metal Gear Solid Agreed, i had never played halo before this year and started with reach i had no idea wtf was going on it was the definition of a fever dream i enjoyed myself though. Man this thread is just increasing in density at such a rate we're gonna make a black hole with two more comments like that one.
ODST was amazing. It just wasn't much of a full sized game compared to 3, but knowing now that Reach was around the corner, that's absolutely fine. That's honestly amazing. Games have increased exponentially in price in the last years, and they seem to include less and less for what you're paying.
You'll think they are better until you shoot a tree you can't see instead of your target. Plus they ugly. The bigger thing is that artistically, they really detract from the original feel. That one mission with a major faction being revealed wont say which one due to spoilers for OP, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about feels significantly different with the newer graphics.
I can get over the visual stuff, but the sound design is what kills me. You cannot beat those classic halo sounds. True that mate. With Halo 3 a very close second. Tbh I don't think halo 3 needed a remaster. That game is still one of the most beautiful looking games I've ever played imo, those graphics hold up beautifully. That is true for the most part The Human faces not so much but it just feels weird that they didn't you know? Who only does remasters of two out of three games?
Yeah for sure, the game is old and shows its age in some aspects, but i feel like they would have run into diminishing returns if they tried to remaster a game that already looks extremely good even by modern standards!
I'm currently playing through the series just finished reach, starting CE and this is just making me extremely excited to get to 3 lol.
You'll have a great time. Start with the Master Chief Collection, and play through the games in release order for the best possible experience. If you want the best value get MCC. If you plan on jumping over to infinite once it drops in December then I would get Halo 5 just to help with current controls and movement. H5 campaign is kind of garbage but MP is pretty fire. I think H5 is on sale as well right now on the Xbox store.
