How much this moment means to me

We have in this quotation two moments of gift exchange. Perhaps it is the moments of dissonance that actually expose the 'doing' of gender. What matters in architects' writings - as in their design work - are those moments when we sense that we are overhearing a conversation. The parameters d and n denote two moments of time relative to the time of the initial paddle movement. See all examples of moment. These examples are from corpora and from sources on the web. A house to live in. Zucchini and peppers from my garden today. A day full of sunshine. A bed to sleep in tonight. Than you for your words. Appreciate the little things, they will add up to big things in your life. Very well said, realizing the good you have where you are, and being grateful for that. This is harder than it looks, think parable of sower; we have to navigate hard paths with little to root in, sometimes the soil we choose is shallow, and we wish to move again… how about the weeds of worry, excess, and envy… these encumbrances are my killers.

We have to remember it is not about us. I too have come to that point of centre and mindfulness though not ALL the time. After 50 years of abuse and privilege, both from myself and others, I am finally entering that space I could always feel somewhere in my mind. I had also been painting yesterday and using gilding wax; AND ate tinned tuna…. I look like a chipmunk this morning. All to say what a wonderful sight and site the photos are lovely — I do my own too and such reassurance too.

Thank you so much for sharing. I shall visit regularly. With love and blessings,. Beautifully said. Yesterday is nothing more than processed memories and, of course, the future is nothing more than a place where dreams and hopes rest. Stumbled on this site as I am always looking for others living a simple, frugal, debt-free life. This year was a year of indebtedness from a failed business. I made a decision to never, ever let that happen again. I enjoy so many other things; gardening, wildlife, environmental activism, etc.

None of this did I even know about myself until I was humbled from the debt. It a way, it was an enlightening.

Love your blog! Stumbled into your site when checking out soaking beans. Like your comments on Living in the Moment. Some people can easily find their purpose early on in their lives, while others might have to spend half of their lifetimes trying to figure out the reason why they are here. Nonetheless, regardless of time, everyone has the capacity to find meaning in life.

This was super helpful God Bless you and Thank you! My husband filed for divorced because of his mistress and told me has know feelings for me anymore. It was tragic for months without my husband. I actually want him back he was the only man i have loved all through my life we started when we where both young. The buddhist Old religion priest is a very holy and powerful man, I have never seen anything like this.

It is a good remedy to resolve marital problems. Reading thisnhelped me understand what it is I wanted to look for within myself. Instead of stressing on the things of tomorrow I should take my journey a step at a time and focus on decisions that help me better the future to come.

So thank you. Very effective! Thank you sincerely! My daughter never spend time with me. Even my hubbi. I was consumed by genealogy research. I felt I was dwelling in the past constantly thinking about dead relatives I nver met. I found myself looking back… literally… all day long!

Being in the moment is an absurd concept. I suppose that if you had a monastic lifestyle where your day is planned for you so that a bell rings to wake you up, another bell for time to eat, and for hours a day blankly staring at a wall or slowly walking from one place to another then being in the now may be somewhat approached. I suppose that such a lifestyle or going on retreats are designed that way. Could you read a book in the now?

All the plot, character development and so on would not exist, only the word you were reading, if that. The idea that I started this comment calling being in the now absurd would have been lost to you if you were reading this in the now and any negative reactions to that statement also… gone.

Of course one could say well when I remember something that I am remembering it now and when I write a grocery list for the future use I am doing that in the now also. Of course that means there is no thought action or observation that is not in the now.

What I am guessing people mean by being in the now is to have the focus of attention on the senses, the stream of information from the nervous system from causes outside the body or internally, not from memory or emotions. Even there I doubt this would be a better state of awareness than having the full benefit of associations of memory and emotions, sort of like watching a movie with the sound off. Taking our lives personally, obsessive dwelling on problems that have no immediate consequence should probably be avoided if possible.

Spending time watching you breathing may be some kind of answer, but so would taking a narcotic. Thank you! Someone who thinks like me! As you say, just simply reading a passage would have you getting to the end only to have forgotten the beginning. So are we to accustom our thinking to adapt to different situations? Ie planning for a vacation at the weekend means you have to think ahead. Simple daily tasks require planning…. Grocery shopping, meal planning etc. It is simply not possible to live in the exact moment in which we are in.

It means not worrying about the far away future that is uncertain. Great article! But might this edict have a shadow side? Like any rule or declaration, it has limitations and is prone to misunderstanding.

Discursive thinking — going around in circles with our thoughts — does not get us far. We often haphazardly stray from one thought to another; the chain of association may keep us spinning our wheels without gaining traction. Self-critical thoughts are also common ways that we stray from the present moment. Meditation and mindfulness practices may offers instructions to simply notice our thoughts.

Rather than being plagued by self-critical thoughts, we might labor under a pall of shame — a sense of feeling defective or unworthy. Unhealed shame keeps us lost in a haze, preventing us from being present with people and life. There may be times when we need to think something through — perhaps a business decision, retirement planning, or how to communicate our feelings and desires to our partner.

Meditation teacher Jason Siff offers this refreshing take on meditation:. I see clinging to experiences and elaborating on them, or thinking about them, as being quite natural and nothing to be alarmed about. I have heard many reports of meditation sittings where someone has written an article, composed a piece of music, planned an art project, or redecorated her house, and it was actually very productive and efficient to be doing this in meditation.

Sometimes we need to allow some spaciousness around our feelings so that they have a chance to settle.
